Zine Correction: Missing Dread & Despair Section
In the current printing of Puff Into the Present Moment: Crafting Herbal Smoking Blends to Ease Anxiety, the “Dread & Despair” section was accidentally replaced with a duplicated section from “Social Stress.”
The missing section is included below so you can read it alongside your printed copy.
Thank you for understanding, and for giving this little zine a home.
DREAD & DESPAIR
HERBAL ALLIES:
Peppermint Mentha × piperita (stimulant)
Rosemary Salvia rosmarinus (stimulant)
Rose Rosa spp. (tonic)
Tulsi or Holy Basil Ocimum sanctum (tonic)
Blue Lotus Nymphaea caerulea (sedative)
Thoughts of impending doom and hopelessness call for herbs that will pick you up and dust you off. Dread and despair drag you down, so we want herbs that will lift us up.
Peppermint and rosemary offer mental clarity that can allow you to see through a mind clouded with anguish. Smoking peppermint is like splashing your face with cold water. Tension is released, blood gets moving, and clarity arises. Rosemary is similar. It stimulates circulation upwards, and by directing your energies upward you’re being lifted out of this heavy, burdensome state.
Rose is very nice for providing comfort in this emotionally vulnerable state. Rose helps to cool you down and bring you into a place of protection from these negative feelings.
Tulsi and blue lotus are also great, when-in-doubt herbs to smoke when you’re feeling downtrodden. Tulsi’s mood elevation is, frankly, an always welcome respite, and blue lotus provides a relaxing euphoria that’s quite soothing.
